OVERVIEW:

We are seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to oversee the development and implementation of a large, complex special education data management system for the public school system. The successful candidate will have a strong background in IT project management.

MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 12+ years of IT Project Management experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Education Technology, or a related field.
  • Project Management certification - PMP.
  • Experience working as an IT Project Manager with NY Government agencies experience.
  • Experience in strategic planning, risk management, and change management.
  • Proficiency in software tools including Smartsheet and Confluence and Jira.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills. 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Education Technology, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of special education is a plus.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning and implementation of the special education data management system project using a waterfall SDLC.
  • Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals, and deliverables.
  • Define project tasks and resource requirements.
  • Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.
  • Manage project resource allocation.
  • Plan and schedule project timelines, track project deliverables using appropriate tools.
  • Effectively managing issues and risks and mitigation amongst project team members and executive stakeholders.
  • Provide direction and support to the project team.
  • Constantly monitor and report on the progress of the project to all stakeholders.
  • Early identification of risks and mitigation plans.
  • Implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs.
  • Plan and manage software releases in coordination with the technical team.
  • Support user acceptance testing and training and coordinate with the team to address any issues.
  • Manage executive-level communication for both IT and business leaders, ensuring transparency and timely updates on project progress.
  • Ensures that the project has an effective cadence of project meetings to ensure effective communication, decision-making, and accountability for agreed-upon deliverables.
  • Owns content creation for key leadership meetings, Steering Committee, IT leadership, City Council, etc.
  • Presents at key meetings and ensure meeting minutes are detailed, contain action items, and are distributed to stakeholders.
  • Ensures effective change management.
  • Ensures deliverables align with the contract.
  • Aligns with Experis leadership in the submission and sign-off on project deliverables.
