Job Description Ingram Marine Group is seeking an IT Security Specialist as part of our team in our Nashville, TN location. The IT Security Specialist supports the implementation and day-to-day operation of security technologies that protect the organization’s systems, networks, and data. This role works with the Cybersecurity Team and Information Systems partners to maintain a proactive security posture and to support the ongoing enhancement of security tools, processes, and controls. Individuals who excel in this role are detail-oriented, technically curious, and collaborative, with a structured, analytical approach to identifying and reducing risk. What you will be doing: Assisting in the implementation, configuration, and day-to-day operation of security tools such as SEG, SIEM, EDR, DLP, and CSPM under guidance of the Director Monitoring security alerts and events, performing initial analysis, and escalating issues Intermediate Engineer and Director Supporting compliance and audit activities by gathering evidence, updating control documentation, and following established processes Engaging in ongoing learning to build deeper technical proficiency in security engineering tools, processes, and best practices Supporting incident response activities by collecting evidence, documenting findings, and coordinating with the Director for deeper investigation Contributing to vulnerability management efforts by running scans, tracking remediation progress, and validating fixes Helping to maintain security runbooks, documentation, and standard operating procedures Assisting in identity and access management tasks such as user access reviews, privilege audits, and account hygiene Collaborating with Infrastructure and DevOps teams to apply secure configurations and support basic security improvements in cloud environments (primarily Azure) Participating in the evaluation of new tools, proof-of-concept testing, and documenting results Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field — or equivalent hands-on experience 0–2 years of experience in information security, IT systems, networking, or related technology roles Basic understanding of foundational security concepts such as authentication, authorization, encryption, patching, and network segmentation Familiarity with at least one category of security tooling (e.g., SIEM, EDR, vulnerability scanners) through coursework, labs, previous roles, or internships Ability to read and understand logs, alerts, and vulnerability reports Exposure to cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP) or a willingness to learn Some scripting or automation familiarity (PowerShell, Python, Bash) is a plus but not required Strong desire to learn, improve, and grow into more advanced security engineering responsibilities Security certifications such as Security+, Azure Fundamentals, or similar are helpful but not required Additional Information All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
