JOB DESCRIPTION: IT SPECIALIST LEVEL II – CYBERSECURITY FOCUSED

Location: Hybrid (Remote within Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, ON)
Employment Type: Full‑Time, Salaried
Reports To: Operations Manager

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3–5 years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or a similar role, with a clear progression of responsibility.
  • Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Advanced proficiency in administering Windows Server, Active Directory, and M365/Azure AD or Google Workspace environments.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts, including firewalls, VLANs, and VPN configuration.
  • Demonstrated experience with cybersecurity tools such as EDR, SIEM, and vulnerability scanners.
  • Proven ability to work independently, manage priorities, and handle escalations effectively.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills, with experience creating procedures and reports.
  • Must successfully complete a criminal record check due to the sensitive nature of cybersecurity work and access to confidential client data and security systems.
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License and vehicle needed.
Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW

As an IT Specialist Level II, you will be a key player in our client-facing technical operations. You will serve as an escalation point for complex IT support issues while taking a more hands-on role in the deployment, management, and tuning of our advanced security stack. This position moves beyond frontline support into proactive system administration, complex problem-solving, and direct involvement in cybersecurity incident response and platform management. You will work to strengthen client security postures and act as a mentor for Level I team members.
