The IT Subject Specialist for Cloud Linux will manage the operations and administration of cloud-hosted and on-premises Linux servers to support the BEA’s mission-critical systems. This role combines system administration, security enforcement, and performance tuning to ensure high availability and efficiency of Linux-based environments.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

• 5+ years in Linux system administration, with at least 2 years supporting cloud-hosted environments.
• Strong experience with Red Hat/CentOS or Ubuntu in production environments.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure cloud architecture and Linux VM management.
• Experience with scripting languages (Bash, Python) and automation tools.
• Proficiency in configuring and securing Apache, MySQL, and PHP.
• Experience working within a government or regulated environment is a plus.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.

• Serve as the primary administrator for Linux servers, both on-premises and cloud-based.
• Support operations for public-facing systems hosted in cloud environments like Azure.
• Install, configure, and maintain Linux server environments, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Administer Apache, MySQL, and PHP environments as part of the LAMP stack.
• Monitor and apply system-level security patches and kernel updates.
• Implement firewall, encryption, and intrusion detection solutions.
• Ensure compliance with federal information security requirements.
• Create and test disaster recovery plans and backups.
• Troubleshoot server errors, service outages, and resource bottlenecks.
• Draft technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and recommendations for improving Linux/cloud performance and governance.
