POSITION: IT SUPERVISOR

Location: Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada
Reports to: Local General Manager & Corporate IT
Job Purpose: Reporting to the Aquarium Market GM in collaboration with the Senior Manager – IT Field Operations, the IT Supervisor will be responsible for supporting and managing technology infrastructure throughout our market. The IT Supervisor will be responsible for performing software installations, assisting in setting up and maintaining the day-to-day IT Operations for Gatlinburg Aquarium Market and local attractions and will collaborate closely with the IT Team and other departments to ensure the smooth operation of all IT-related functions, including attraction system management, ticketing systems, and POS solutions.

CRITICAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Maintain the day-to-day operations of IT and provide technical support. This will include Point of Sale (POS) ticketing systems, setting up computers, telecommunication devices, AV systems, CCTV systems and access control.
  • Supervising and guiding the local IT support team, ensuring their effective performance, skill development, and adherence to IT policies and procedures.
  • Create the IT team schedules to adequately support the Aquarium operations.
  • Assist in planning, executing, and managing IT projects, including upgrades, installations, and migrations, while ensuring minimal disruptions to operations.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and administer the use of local area networks, computer workstations, connections to the internet and peripheral equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations and IT industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of IT systems, configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Demonstrate discretion and confidentiality with data, software licenses, sales, revenues, and other company related information.
  • Stay up to date and ensure that software licensing laws are adhered to.
  • Monitor performance of computer systems and networks.
  • Co-ordinate access and use of computer networks with our corporate office.
  • Create user accounts and support users in accessing network resources.
  • Prioritize regularly scheduled service activities along with urgent unscheduled support requests with a high level of responsiveness
  • Collaborate with external vendors and service providers to ensure timely delivery of IT services and resolution of issues.
  • Maintenance of all attraction interactives and audio-visual equipment.
  • IT support provided during regular operations, meetings, special events and programs.

SPECIAL SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • College or University degree with a major in Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in IT support, system administration, or a related field.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving IT issues.
  • Understanding of configuration changes and their up/down stream impacts.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Attention to detail, data integrity and accuracy.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-starter and ability to follow and work under general direction.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Excellent time management skills.
