Job Title: IT Device Support Technician
Location: Moorgreen Hospital, Botley Road, West End, Southampton, SO30 3JB
Trust: Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust.

Job Type/Shift Patterns: Full-time, Monday to Friday, with hours from 8am-4pm or 9am-5pm, totaling 37.5 hours per week.

  • First 2 months: 90% of the time at Moorgreen Hospital, Southampton.
  • After 2 months: 50% at Moorgreen and 50% travelling to sites in Lymington, Fareham, Gosport, and Basingstoke.
  • Generous mileage allowance for travel, with travel time included in your working day.
  • Work from home when not on-site.

Pay Rate: £15.67/Hr.
Contract duration: 12 months (Possibility of extension)

JOB SUMMARY:

The Device Support Technician provides on-site and remote IT support for laptops, desktops, smartphones, tablets, and printers. They troubleshoot technical issues, escalate unresolved problems, and ensure compliance with IT policies. The role includes assisting with IT projects and supporting device deployment, configuration, and recovery. Strong communication and technical skills are essential.

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with Microsoft OS, Office, VPNs, and networking.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills to explain technical issues to non-technical users.

EDUCATION:

  • Degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent technical experience (minimum of 3 years).

Responsibilities:

  • Provide IT support for laptops, PCs, smartphones, tablets, and printers.
  • Resolve technical issues and escalate unresolved problems.
  • Follow IT policies and procedures for support calls and requests.
  • Assist with IT projects, including hardware/software installation and testing.
  • Ensure desktop/laptop security and escalate security breaches.
  • Manage device auditing, asset tracking, and recovery.
