Description

The IT Support Specialist supports technical activities of the systems analyst and the technology department. This work includes repair and maintenance of all technology-related equipment as well as technical support for all technology-related systems. This employee aids the network engineer in maintaining the operation and integrity of local area networks, file servers and workstation. The Support Specialist understands and utilizes tools to monitor and maintain efficiency and security of local area network standards and has a basic understanding of policies.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong knowledge of computers and related instructional technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of infrastructure requirements and components of local area networks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of technology users.
  • Ability to refer complex problems to higher-level technical support
  • Knowledge and experience with managing users and computers in an Active Directory domain.
  • Knowledge of switches and command line configuration.
  • Understanding of networking concepts and technologies (DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, Wireless, Ethernet)
  • General knowledge of web design.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.

Responsibilities
  • Uses a ticket tracking system to respond to the daily work orders at the school district
  • Repairs, maintains, and upgrades technology-related equipment.
  • Performs computer hardware repairs in-house.
  • Setup of new technology-related equipment.
  • Help manage user accounts on various platforms.
  • Uses online inventory system to track technology-related equipment.
  • Supports school identified personnel who are first point of contact.
  • Performs the installation of hardware, software, and related peripherals for the Central Office.
  • Assists with the configuration and installation of network equipment such as switches, access points, and other related peripherals under the supervision of the network engineer.
  • Other duties as assigned.
