The salary for this role is £34,568 (inclusive of a Specialist Allowance). Onsite working is expected for 5 days a week, however, we actively support requests for flexible working.
This role is based at the following site; Culham, Oxfordshire.
This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) , including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions.
The role is part of the IT Support team within the Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions Unit at UKAEA, which manages centrally provided IT services and infrastructure across UKAEA sites.

The IT Support Specialist will provide 1st line (Service Desk) and 2nd/3rd line (IT Support) services for business and operational systems, covering:

  • Microsoft Office 365 apps (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Windows OS, with some Mac and Linux support
  • Imaging & application deployment (WDS, SCCM, Endpoint, Intune)
  • Active Directory, network storage, networking, printing, and telecoms
  • Support for remote & hybrid working (VPN, NoMachine, SecurID, MFA)
  • Hardware support (desktops, laptops, peripherals)

Strong communication skills are essential for effective interaction with users across all levels of technical ability. The role also includes handling high volumes of hardware requests (laptops, desktops, accessories), and collaborating with other IT teams (Networks, Servers, Security) to resolve incidents and requests.
Adherence to ITIL/ITSM practices is expected to maintain high-quality service deliver
