JOB OVERVIEW

Flight Safety Foundation (FSF), a globally recognized leader in aviation safety, is seeking a skilled and motivated IT Support Specialist to join our team in Montreal. This role is pivotal in ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of the Foundation’s digital infrastructure and providing responsive day-to-day IT support to staff around the world.
Working closely with counterparts at our headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia, and other global locations, you will help maintain seamless IT operations, support a range of systems and platforms, and drive continuous improvement in our IT practices. This role will be fully remote for three (3) months, as we secure our office space in Montreal. After that, it will be a hybrid at home-in office position with occasional travel to our headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia, U.S.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative IT professional with hands-on experience in systems administration, end-user support, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, cloud platforms, and basic website maintenance.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with users at all levels.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving with a focus on user satisfaction.
  • At least 5 years of experience in IT support, with relevant certifications and/or a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven expertise in IT resource deployment, systems and hardware administration, and end-user training.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 platform (SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Security & Compliance tools).
  • Hands-on experience with WordPress maintenance, domain renewals, and web hosting administration.
  • Solid understanding of backup and disaster recovery methods, cybersecurity solutions, and basic networking principles.
  • Strong knowledge of IT asset and inventory management best practices.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks and data privacy regulations.
  • Experience working in an international, nonprofit, or aviation-related organization.
  • Exposure to Salesforce development and administration.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver responsive IT support to over 20 international staff, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, network, and remote access issues.
  • Administer and maintain internal IT systems, including Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams), email services, collaboration tools, and cybersecurity infrastructure.
  • Perform routine system administration tasks, including user account management, backups, updates, and antivirus monitoring.
  • Oversee IT asset inventory and maintain accurate records of hardware and software.
  • Provide first-level maintenance and support for the Foundation’s WordPress-based website, including updates, security patches, and coordination with external vendors for more complex issues.
  • Support centralized anti-spam, antivirus, and disaster recovery processes.
  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows-based desktops and laptops, user applications, and hardware components; perform routine maintenance and data recovery as needed.
  • Implement and monitor anti-virus and spyware removal tools, ensuring systems remain secure.
  • Draft and maintain clear technical documentation for IT processes, procedures, and deployments.
  • Collaborate with global IT counterparts to ensure alignment of practices, priorities, and seamless coverage across time zones.
  • Identify opportunities to improve IT operations, enhance security, and optimize workflows.
  • Coordinate with vendors for hardware repair, replacement, or procurement.
