IT Support Specialist

Overview:
The IT Support Specialist plays a vital role in our technical support hierarchy, focusing on resolving basic and advanced technical issues. This role demands a comprehensive understanding of various technologies and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities:
· Provide Helpdesk Support: Serve as the first point of contact for IT support, managing tickets and responding to customer inquiries and issues through various channels such as email, phone, and in-person.
· Diagnose and Resolve Technical Issues: Quickly identify and solve hardware and software problems, providing timely and accurate support to end-users.
· Maintain and Upgrade Systems: Regularly update and maintain IT systems to ensure they are functioning efficiently, including installing updates and performing routine checks and maintenance.
· Enhance System Security: Monitor network security, implement appropriate security measures, and stay updated on the latest protection protocols to safeguard company data against threats.
· Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed documentation of all IT-related issues and resolutions using our ticketing system.
· Project Management: Participate in IT projects, from planning through execution, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
· Proactive Learning: Continually seek new knowledge to stay current with emerging technologies and advancements in the IT field, ensuring the highest level of support and innovation.
· Efficient Work Management: Demonstrate a self-motivated attitude, always looking for ways to stay busy, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity within the department.
Technical Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in IT support, with a strong emphasis on Tier 2 & Tier 3 technical troubleshooting.
- Expertise in operating systems (Windows 10/11, macOS, Linux), networking (TCP/IP, VPNs, DHCP, DNS), hardware components, Active Directory, and Exchange environments.
- Proficiency with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Knowledge of security principles and technologies (firewalls, antivirus, EDR tools).
- Experience with scripting for automation and configuration (PowerShell, Bash) is beneficial.
- Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, MCSA, or similar are highly desirable.
