GMP Recruitment are proud to be in partnership with a long-established and reputable defence engineering firm based in the Birmingham area. We are currently recruiting on their behalf for an experienced IT Support professional to join their I.T Department on a full-time, permanent basis.
This position offers a salary of up to £35,000 Per annum based on experience and working office hours of 8.30-5pm some flexibility available. This position provides the opportunity to work within a secure and progressive environment focused on reliability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Our client operates a busy and growing site with a wide range of IT systems, infrastructure, and critical business applications. They are seeking a proactive and technically strong individual to help maintain and enhance IT operations, provide day-to-day support, and drive forward system improvements to meet the growing demands of their customers.

IT Support Main Responsibilities:

  • Maintain essential IT operations, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, laptops, desktops, and related hardware/software.
  • Manage and deliver business-critical IT tasks and system improvements.
  • Support and enhance productivity by enabling smarter business processes and IT efficiencies.
  • Research, evaluate, and implement emerging technologies, hardware, and software solutions.
  • Act as subject matter expert across Windows, iOS, and widely used applications (Microsoft, Adobe, Google Workspace).
  • Ensure ongoing cyber security compliance, supporting Cyber Essentials + accreditations.
  • Install, configure, and support workstations, printers, phones, and mobile devices.
  • Administer and secure the company’s Office 365 / SharePoint environment, developing it to meet business needs.
  • Oversee administration of time and attendance systems and other business-critical platforms.
  • Assist in supporting the company’s Infor ERP business solution.
  • Lead on cyber security awareness, employee training, and preventative measures against phishing and cyberattacks.
  • Provide documentation, training, testing, and implementation support for IT projects.
  • Manage asset database and maintain accurate records of IT equipment.
  • Liaise with third parties to deliver IT services and support business requirements.

IT Support required skills and experience:

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in an IT support role.
  • Strong knowledge of operating systems, hardware, and IT technologies.
  • Knowledge and understanding of cyber security standards, controls, and practices.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise workload, and multitask effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a professional approach.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven experience liaising with third parties and external providers.
  • Strong critical thinking and logical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive company information.
  • Eligibility to obtain BPSS and SC clearance.
