Description

We’re looking for a proactive and people-focused IT Support Technician to join our SMT GB TEC team. This is a hands-on role where you’ll play a key part in keeping our systems, networks, and people running smoothly every day.
From providing deskside and remote support, to setting up laptops and smartphones, through to helping maintain servers and working with our outsourced partners—you’ll be right at the heart of keeping SMT connected and effective. If you enjoy problem-solving, learning new technologies, and making a real impact on colleagues’ day-to-day work, we’d love to hear from you.
This role is based from our Duxford Head Office 5 days per week.
What you’ll be doing:

You’ll be the go-to for end-user support and play a key role in keeping our IT operations running seamlessly. Day-to-day, you’ll:

  • Monitor and respond to support tickets and calls, logging issues and resolutions in the system.
  • Provide deskside and remote IT support across the end-user environment and operating systems.
  • Set up and deliver IT equipment including laptops, desktops, tablets, smartphones, and peripherals.
  • Support applications used across our engineer and service fleet.
  • Work closely with the TEC team and external partners to resolve issues and maintain effective cross-system management.
  • Administer Active Directory (AD) locally and provide support for SMT GB-owned servers.
  • Liaise with suppliers and help coordinate third-party support.
  • Maintain clear operational and procedural documentation.
