This role is responsible for the implementation, operation, performance, and security of systems infrastructure across all departments and designated subsidiaries. The Systems Administrator serves as the primary technical operator for day‑to‑day systems health, leads the execution of IT projects, and ensures the reliability and continuity of the organization’s technology environment. This position requires a high degree of independent judgment, technical expertise, and accountability for maintaining infrastructure that supports the entire organization. **This position can be located in Fairbanks, AK, or Anchorage, AK** ***THIS POSITION IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION*** ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Lead the planning and implementation of IT projects under the direction of the IT Infrastructure Manager. Architect, implement, configure, monitor, and maintain systems infrastructure to meet current and future organizational needs. Serve as the primary owner for server health, uptime, and performance across all operating systems including virtual servers and cloud environments. Install, configure, and lifecycle manage server equipment ensuring systems remain current and performing optimally. Own user account governance including identity management, access controls, and password policy enforcement. Proactively monitor and resolve system performance issues including capacity, storage, and database performance. Manage and enforce a disciplined patch and update program across all systems. Develop, maintain, and regularly test backup, disaster recovery, and failover systems to ensure business continuity. Maintain accurate documentation for all infrastructure configurations. Act as the primary escalation point for server and systems issues including after‑hours response. Coordinate with vendors for installation and support of infrastructure systems. Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and systems issues across the full technology stack, from enterprise server administration to end‑user support. Produce and maintain high‑quality technical support documentation and systems diagrams. Mentor and support junior IT staff while fostering an environment of continuous learning. Participate in on‑call rotation and perform other duties as assigned. Success in this role requires strong expertise in enterprise systems infrastructure including server platforms, virtualization technologies, cloud services, and identity management systems. The Systems Administrator must anticipate operational needs, provide clear technical insight, and implement reliable, secure, and scalable systems solutions that support business operations across the organization. This role requires a proactive approach to systems monitoring, maintenance, and lifecycle management, along with close collaboration with the IT Infrastructure Manager and broader IT team. Through effective administration and optimization of server, virtualization, and cloud environments, the Systems Administrator helps ensure systems meet performance, availability, and security objectives while supporting the overall stability and maturity of the organization’s technology infrastructure. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum five (5) years of hands‑on experience in systems administration including servers, virtualization, and cloud infrastructure. Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration including Exchange Online, SharePoint, and Entra ID. Demonstrated experience with backup, disaster recovery, and failover systems. Working knowledge of network infrastructure, identity management, and security principles. Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities with minimal supervision. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in information technology, or a related field Industry certifications such as Microsoft Azure Administrator (AZ-104), VMware Certified Professional (VCP), or CompTIA Server+ Experience administering infrastructure in a multi-entity organization Familiarity with compliance and data governance requirements WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The majority of work is performed in a professional office setting with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities, and abilities. There is a 40-hour on-site work week with on-call availability. Some travel may be required.
