Tully Rinckey, a full-service law firm with offices located in New York, Washington, D.C., Texas and California, is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our Latham, NY support staff team. The Systems Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic information technology initiatives for the firm that will maximize performance, deliver results and fuel the firm’s fast-paced growth. The Systems Engineer will actively oversee the implementation and support of firm IT solutions to include medium and large-scale projects. The position will support IT systems in tandem with the firm’s Senior IT Manager and managed services provider for over 170 users and 12 locations.
The Systems Engineer will have experience in managing upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of software and hardware systems and hybrid cloud infrastructure; as well as upkeep and configuration of network, mobile and VOIP phone systems.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 3-5 years in the IT industry. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information. Technology, Engineering or related fields. Experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
  • 2+ years demonstrated experience with VMware preferred.
  • 2+ years demonstrated experience with server, storage, and network architecture.
  • 2+ years of Office365 and Microsoft Azure experience.
  • 2+ years demonstrated experience in managing and troubleshooting aspects of a Windows domain environment.
  • Experience in performing and assisting with equipment specification, setup, problem resolution, and network support related to computer hardware and software.
  • Networking/VOIP experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication and personal skills.
Responsibilities
  • Perform server administration tasks, including user/group administration, security permissions, group policies, print services, research event log warnings and errors, and resource monitoring, ensuring system architecture components work together seamlessly.
  • Work with outside Managed Services providers to monitor datacenter health using preexisting management tools and respond to hardware issues as they arise; help build, test, and maintain new servers as needed.
  • Maintain internal infrastructure requirements including laptop and desktop computers, servers, routers, switches, firewalls, printers, phones, security updates, support internet, intranet, LANs, WANs, and network segments.
  • Quickly and efficiently resolve Tier 1 and 2 incidents as escalated by the outside Managed Services Provider, coordinate Tier 3 incidents with outside Managed Services Provider outside of business hours.
  • Oversee upgrades / updates and ticket escalations outside of normal business hours.
  • Oversee and manage the firm’s network and on datacenter.
  • Procure and deploy new technology solutions that support the firm’s attorneys and users.
  • Work closely with the firm management team to develop workflow improvements.
  • Manage and resolve issues with the firm’s server and network infrastructure.
  • Research and implement network and data center best practices.
  • Plan architecture upgrades, expansion and new services.
  • Interface with remote sites via email/phone to walk through hands-on troubleshooting.
  • Assist the team in resolving production issues on nights and weekends as needed.
  • On call support for major outages or network issues.
