POSITION DESCRIPTION
Provides technical and administrative support, including help desk, installation and troubleshooting of computer systems, software and peripherals for YWCA Hamilton users.
- Provides technical support to YWCA Hamilton users;
- Answers technology-related questions from clients;
- Responsible for completing I.T. tickets and support requests and maintaining ticket records and technical notes;
- Provides maintenance for the organization’s devices;
- Installs, configures, troubleshoots, upgrades, maintains and performs updates on computers, printers, cell phones, and other devices as well as systems and network;
- Ensures interconnection of desktop computers with diverse systems including files
servers, email servers, computer application servers and administrative systems;
- Moves and sets up workstations, including supplying computer terminals, data connections and telephones;
- Creates, removes and sets up users and computers on the YWCA Hamilton systems (both on site and on the cloud) including servers, and Active Directory etc.;
- Provides orientation to new users of existing technology (e.g. email);
- Ensures staff are given proper permissions for file sharing servers, distribution and security groups;
- Maintains a current and accurate inventory of technology hardware, software and resources;
- Maintains logs of required repairs and maintenance;
- Collaborates with the I.T. Manager and I.T. Specialist on special projects (e.g. HRIS) and performs internet-based research as required;
- Collaborates with contractors and vendors;
- Maintains accurate records, statistics and produces reports for I.T. Manager as required;
- Nurtures and forms meaningful internal and external working relationships and partnerships;
- Ensures compliance with policies and procedures;
- Understands emerging trends, leading practices, industry professional standards;
- Supports YWCA Hamilton mission, vision and values;
- Performs other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of 3 years College in computer science, or equivalent;
- Minimum of 2 years’ system administration experience;
- Must have experience installing software, patches, updates on desktops, laptops and mobile devices;
- Must have experience troubleshooting basic network, software and printing problems;
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft systems, Microsoft certification is an asset;
- Ability to work extra hours as required;
- Must provide a current Criminal Record Judicial Matters Police check or willingness to obtain at own cost;
- Ability to bring a feminist, anti-racist/anti-oppressive perspective to work;
- Bilingual English/French or other languages an asset.
