This is an IT Level 3 Apprenticeship role - split 80/20 between employment with the employer, and remote learning - gaining qualifications with Solveway Apprenticeships!
We are looking for motivated, hard-working people who are passionate about technology. Our apprenticeship programme is intended for candidates who are looking for a career in IT.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Educational qualifications including GCSE or equivalent in grade 4 or above in English and Maths
  • Completed an IT based subject at A-Level or equivalent
  • Possess some knowledge of PC hardware, Windows 10/11, Microsoft Office products, and Google Workspace. A working knowledge of a range of software packages is also important but training will be provided
  • Passionate about IT and supporting users
  • Positive and enthusiastic approach towards work and personal development
  • Have strong communication skills, able to explain technical information clearly and patiently
  • A natural problem solver
  • Committed to the safeguarding of children

Via the apprenticeship levy, the school will support you through a 15 month training course, providing mentorship and daily learning opportunities to grow and develop your IT skills. They will support dedicated time with the training provider and work closely with them to guide you through the apprenticeship.

QUALIFICATIONS

GCSE English and Maths A*-C/4-9 or level 2 equivalents.

Responsibilities
  • Learn from IT colleagues and apprenticeship training provider, completing all required coursework.
  • Deliver friendly, efficient first-line IT support to staff, students, and visitors in person and remotely, logging all tasks in the Helpdesk system.
  • Set up, maintain, and repair IT equipment; escalate issues when needed.
  • Monitor and manage IT consumables, audio-visual systems, and support school events.
  • Assist with system compliance, IT policies, GDPR, and health & safety requirements.
  • Support the Network Administrator with device management, backups, group policy, and workload cover.
  • Diagnose and repair hardware/software faults; support applications, mail systems, AV, telephony, and peripherals.
  • Assist with credential management, software installations/updates, anti-virus, wireless setup, and access points.
  • Provide support for cashless catering solutions and asset management.
  • Help monitor filtering, networking, broadband, and servers where possible.
  • Support remote access for users and suggest improvements to IT provision.
  • Create and maintain IT documentation and deliver staff training when appropriate.
