JOB SUMMARY
The IT Technician is responsible for a diverse range of duties including friendly customer support for staff and patrons, software and hardware support, documentation, backup management, and equipment maintenance. This position provides an excellent opportunity to engage with the community and have access to ongoing learning experience. This role also encompasses supporting special library projects, collaborating with other departments, and supporting technology needs at various events. The IT Technician will assist in developing and supporting all technological efforts necessary to maintain a vibrant library that connects the community, inspires innovation, and encourages curiosity.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

· Knowledge of operations and practices of public library systems.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office products to compile, analyze data, write reports, and support effective employee use.
· Willing to learn and understand underlying technical concepts and adapt to new technology.
· Knowledge of and willingness to learn other devices such as phones and tablets.
· Basic understanding of infrastructure in LAN, WAN, WWAN
· Ability to think analytically, exercise initiative, and act in the best interest of the library.
· Ability to work independently, set priorities, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines with little supervision.
· Effective working with a wide range of constituencies.
· Excellent oral and written communication.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
· A degree in Computer Science, Security, Engineering, or a similar field is required.
· Hands-on experience with hardware and software technologies.
· Experience with infrastructure including Azure, Active Directory, Virtualization.
· Library System experience desired.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Together with the library team, create a dynamic and exciting library experience by focusing on innovation and adventure while providing excellent customer service.
· Treat all library patrons and colleagues with kindness, tact, and confidentiality and provide a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
· Provide friendly and effective customer support to library staff and patrons, addressing their technology-related questions and issues.
· Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of software applications and systems. Collaborate with staff to ensure optimal use of technology.
· Create detailed documentation and network diagrams that outline the network layout and components. Maintain accurate records for future reference.
· Monitor and maintain backup data for servers and staff computers to prevent data loss and ensure data integrity.
· Assist in preparing and replacing equipment as needed, ensuring that all technology hardware is up to date and functioning properly. This includes computers, peripherals, printers, and various network related hardware.
· Maintain a schedule to provide technological help to library patrons, both drop-in and by appointment, offering guidance and support as required.
· Work closely with the IT Supervisor to gain experience and learn about the library’s network and software applications. Participate in training sessions to gain a comprehensive understanding of technology in our environment. Pursue on-going training and certifications.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
· Help support special library projects as needed.
· Work closely with other departments to determine ongoing technological needs
· Work with special committees as requested.
· May be called upon to participate in events or provide support in other areas on occasion.
· Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
