Science Creates is a deep tech incubator hosting and supporting the development of numerous companies over several sites in Bristol. With a growing core team of over 20, we are looking for someone who can provide IT support for both our team and our building networks. You will assist the IT Systems Administrator in supporting company members and event visitors with network issues and Audio Visual systems in our meeting rooms and event spaces. Key responsibilities

  • 1st Line Support: Provide responsive first-line technical support to the core Science Creates’ team addressing IT-related issues efficiently and professionally, via email, remotely or in person.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hardware issues, printer problems, minor software problems, and basic network challenges for the Science Creates team.
  • AV Setup & Management: Set up, manage, and support audio-visual equipment for conference rooms and events including webcams, TVs, monitors speakers and microphones, ensuring seamless technical operations.
  • Assisting with onboarding and offboarding Science Creates staff from our digital platforms.
  • VOIP System Management: Set up and install VOIP telephone systems and handsets, liaising with our third party providers regarding phone operations and maintenance.
  • Ticketing System Management: Maintain and manage the IT ticketing system, ensuring requests are logged, tracked, and resolved within established timelines.
  • Provide support for networked printers and deal with basic driver issues.
  • Wi-Fi Support: Offer basic support for Wi-Fi systems, troubleshooting SSID connectivity issues and ensuring network stability and security by assisting the IT manager.
  • CCTV Troubleshooting: Conduct basic troubleshooting of CCTV systems to maintain security and functionality. This includes physically resetting CCTV cameras and replacing and running cables for new cameras.
  • Physical Networking: Assist with physical networking tasks, such as running and managing network cables, installing wifi access points and switches, liaising with the company members and contractors where necessary.
  • Work closely with our third party printing provider to ensure proper printer operations, providing necessary logs and supply levels.
  • Flexibility & Adaptability: Be willing to adapt to evolving IT needs and support requirements.

What you need to bring to the role of IT Technician

  • A basic understanding of networking - VLANs, SSIDs, VPNs and firewalls
  • An understanding of basic network management, DHCP, POE and cable terminations
  • Experience in installing, maintaining and supporting Mac devices, Windows desktops, office software and IOT devices
  • Familiarity with basic printing functionality and protocols
  • A good understanding of basic office suite applications such as Google Workplace applications, and Microsoft Office.

Desirable

  • Prior helpdesk or IT support related experience (e.g. logging support tickets)
  • Basic programming experience
  • Experience in printing systems, protocols and knowledge on how they operate
  • A basic understanding of Windows/Linux server administration
  • Understanding of and/or experience working with Ubiquiti technologies

Salary: £27,000- 30,000 per annum depending on experienc
