Description

We are seeking an experienced IT Telecommunications Specialist to design, implement, and maintain our organization’s voice, data, and unified communications infrastructure in a fully remote capacity. The ideal candidate will ensure high availability, security, and performance of telecom systems while collaborating with cross-functional teams and vendors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, configure, and maintain telecom systems, including VoIP, SIP trunking, PBX, UCaaS, and contact center solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex voice/data network issues (latency, jitter, call drops) in collaboration with carriers (e.g., AT&T, Verizon).
  • Manage migrations from legacy systems to cloud-based telecom platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams Direct Routing, Zoom Phone, RingCentral).
  • Monitor performance using tools like SolarWinds, Wireshark, or PRTG; optimize network QoS for VoIP.
  • Implement and enforce telecom security protocols (e.g., SBC hardening, SIP encryption).
  • Oversee vendor relationships, contracts, and telecom expense management (TEM).
  • Document architectures, policies, and procedures for compliance (HIPAA, SOC 2, etc.).
  • Provide Tier 2/3 support and mentor junior staff.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years in telecom/network administration, with expertise in:
  • VoIP/SIP protocols, PBX (Cisco CUCM, Avaya), and session border controllers (SBCs).
  • UC platforms (Microsoft Teams, Webex, 8x8).
  • Network fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, QoS, SD-WAN).
  • Hands-on experience with telecom carriers and troubleshooting tools.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud communications and hybrid deployments.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • U.S. residency required (no visa sponsorship).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications: CCNA Collaboration, CCNP Voice, CompTIA Network+.
  • Experience with contact center solutions (Genesys, Five9).
  • Scripting skills (Python, PowerShell) for automation.
