Job Description Montgomery College’s Office of Information Technology, located at the Central Services Campus, is seeking an experienced IT Workday Manager to lead the strategic direction, optimization, and governance of the College’s Workday platform across Human Resources and Finance. This is a full‑time, non-bargaining, exempt, grade 37 position (40 hours/week, Monday–Friday). The IT Workday Manager position is eligible for telework 1 day a week following a successful completion of a 6-month probationary period. This eligibility is subject to change based on the needs of the unit. The IT Workday Manager will serve as the College’s Workday champion, driving continuous improvement, system optimization, and strategic alignment with institutional priorities. Reporting to the Director of Enterprise Services, this leader will shape the roadmap for Workday, oversee major enhancements and releases, and ensure strong governance across HR and Finance functions. This position leads a collaborative team of six Workday specialists (HCM, Finance, and Security). The IT Workday Manager will play a crucial role in mentoring staff, strengthening the partnership between IT, HR, and Finance, and ensuring the College fully leverages Workday’s capabilities and user experience. This role will establish and lead a governance structure for Workday, including access and security reviews, reimagine user security roles across the platform, and maintain rigorous change management processes, including regular Workday releases. The IT Workday Manager will oversee the ongoing development, optimization, and governance of Workday (ERP) across Human Resources and Finance operations. The IT Workday Manager will report to the Director of Enterprise Services within the Information Technology department. In conjunction with the Director, this role will be responsible for shaping Workday’s strategic direction, managing upgrades and rollouts, and driving continuous improvement to align with institutional goals. This position will manage a team responsible for Workday configuration, security, and support, collaborating closely with HR, Finance, and IT stakeholders to ensure the system is effectively leveraged to streamline operations, enhance data quality, and improve the user experience. Duties include but are not limited to: Leading the strategic planning and oversight of Workday across HR and Finance functions, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and business goals. Partnering with HR, Finance, and IT leadership to identify improvement opportunities and implement best practices through Workday’s capabilities. Championing continuous improvement by staying current with Workday trends, higher education ERP practices, and user feedback. Managing and mentoring a team of Workday specialists responsible for system configuration, business process design, security roles, and day-to-day support. Overseeing system governance and change management processes, ensuring effective evaluation, prioritization, and implementation of new functionality. Directing Workday-related projects, including module implementations, upgrades, integrations, and enhancements. Ensuring data integrity and reporting accuracy across Workday by promoting rigorous testing, quality assurance, and collaboration with data owners. Monitoring Workday releases and assessing the impact of new features, leading rollout plans and training as needed. Supporting internal audits, compliance efforts, and risk mitigation related to Workday access and data. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field. A minimum of five (5) years of experience managing and leading Workday integration, performance, configuration, and functional support. At least four (4) years of experience supervising, leading and coaching professional staff. At least three (3) years of experience in managing data analysis, including resolving data integrity issues, and using data analytics and reporting tools to produce stakeholder reports. A minimum of two (2) years of experience in leading system-focused change management, including system configuration, stakeholder communication, and system documentation articulating the purpose and value of system changes. Experience collaborating with cybersecurity teams to ensure data secure integrations, protect data integrity, and strengthen overall system security and compliance, with the ability to escalate critical issues as needed. Excellent skills in communicating with diverse stakeholders across technical and non-technical areas. Proven ability to convey complex technical concepts into clear, user-friendly language. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and drive projects to completion within deadlines. Demonstrated initiative and exercises sound decision-making and judgment. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with student information systems Experience with integration development, including APIs and Workday Orchestrate Hiring Range: $114,539-$157,505 annually. Initial salary placement for new hires falls between the minimum and midpoint of the range and is based on relevant candidate experience and internal equity.
