JOB SUMMARY

The Head Custodian plays a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all building occupants. This position is responsible for overseeing custodial staff and ensuring that all cleaning and maintenance tasks are performed to the highest standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in janitorial and custodial services, with a strong focus on floor care and facilities maintenance.

EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience in custodial or janitorial roles is required; supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with floor care techniques including buffing and waxing is essential.
  • Experience in commercial or industrial cleaning environments is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of facilities maintenance practices is a plus.
  • Previous porter experience can be beneficial for this role.
  • Ability to perform residential painting tasks may be considered an asset. This position requires a dedicated individual who takes pride in their work and strives for excellence in maintaining cleanliness across all areas of the facility.

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of custodial staff to ensure efficient cleaning operations.
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks including dusting, sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing various areas within the facility.
  • Oversee floor care activities such as buffing, waxing, and carpet cleaning to maintain high standards of cleanliness.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the facility to identify maintenance needs and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring that all necessary items are stocked and in good condition.
  • Maintain records of cleaning schedules, staff performance, and equipment maintenance.
