Description Classification: Part-time FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly) Hours: Sundays 2:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Monday - Thursday | 7:00 AM - 12:00 PM Reports to: Pastor Projected Start Date: July 15, 2026 Benefits may include: • Paid Holidays/Holy Days (vary by location) • 403b Retirement • Employee Assistance Program Position Summary The Janitorial Worker is responsible for the general care, cleanliness and basic upkeep of the parish facilities, including the church, Divine Mercy Chapel, Parish Office, St. Ann Hall, Goertz Hall, Catechetical Center, and Parish Rectory. This role requires familiarity with cleaning equipment and supplies, attention to detail, and strong sense of responsibility, always in support of the parish's mission. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Clean and care for assigned areas including dusting, and polishing of furniture, equipment and other fixtures Sanitize pews, chairs, and kneelers Clean all building floors (sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming) Polish, seal, and strip floors as needed Clean all windows, glass partitions, and mirrors Clean and resupply restrooms Gather and empty trash bins Check grounds for litter/garbage and unsafe conditions Stock and maintain all custodial supplies and equipment in a cost-effective manner including, paper, toiletries, lighting cleaning chemicals and other supplies Identify and report building and ground issues in need of repair or attention to Parish administrator or designated supervisor. Observe and adhere to all safe work and health policies and regulations Requirements Qualifications High School Diploma, GED or equivalent is required Prior custodian / janitorial experience preferred Knowledge and/ or experience working with cleaning equipment and chemicals Experience with operating various cleaning equipment Ability to perform with minimal daily supervision Must be proactive in support of the Parish purpose, goals, policies and programs Must possess good interpersonal communication skills Must complete and pass VIRTUS training and criminal background check Physical Demands/ Work Environment Regular exposure to cleaning supplies and maintenance-related tasks Work takes place in a church environment that includes sacred spaces and active parish programming Spend majority of work time standing/ squatting/ lifting/ kneeling doing a wide variety of moderate physical activity both indoors and outdoors The position requires the lifting of tools, and equipment or material weighing up to 30 lbs. as necessary.
