Description

As a Japanese school lunch specialist at Kome Shokudo, you will work with other chefs to develop nutritious, delicious and kids friendly dishes, while ensuring to follow Ontario School Board’s regulations. During school seasons, you will be the leader of the team making, packaging and distributing school lunches to all the participating schools. You will attend school board meetings in various public schools to formulate individual plans for each specific school. Another important aspect of your job is to communicate with our suppliers both in Canada and Japan to ensure the ingredients we get surpasses the Ontario School Board’s guidelines.
Responsibilities:
-Report to the owner directly.
- Create and improve school lunch recipes.
- Design operation procedures of each menu items.
- Order ingredients and supplies for the school lunch program. Communicate with suppliers both in Canada and Japan for quality control, price negations, and fulfill Kome’s purchasing requirements.
- Attend and supervise the preparation, cooking and delivery of school lunches.
- Ensure and enforce nuts free environment.
- Ensure and enforce government food safety regulations.
- Ensure and enforce temperature requirements for deliveries.
- Attend school board meetings to present Japanese school lunch program and Kome’s school lunch program for Canada. Respond to feedbacks from all sources.
- Make improvements according to the feedbacks.
Ideal Candidates:
- Minimum 2 years of experiences working in school lunch facilities in Japan.
- Minimum 2 years of experiences in supervising school lunch operations.
- Ability to create Japanese recipes.
- Ability to work long hours.
- Ability to lift 20 KG weight.
- Ontario driver’s license required.
- Bachelor degree in nutrition and dietetics a bonus.
- Fluent in speaking and writing in English.
- Fluent in Japanese a bonus.
- No criminal record certificate required.
Contract length: 24 months
Job Type: Full-time
