POSITION SUMMARY

We are currently seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented mid-level Java/JEE Developer to join our team in Ashburn, VA to begin an exciting and challenging career.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related engineering field with 5+ years of technical experience.
  • Provisioning, operating, and maintaining systems running on AWS (or equivalent cloud providers).
  • Development of microservices using Spring. Primarily Spring Boot.
  • Experience wiring up code to perform highly efficient CRUD operations on DBMS such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB with JDBC, JPA, Hibernate etc.
  • Experience with HTML, CSS and JavaScript, Angular, React, React-Native, NodeJS.
  • Developing and debugging complex SQL queries.
  • Some experience and familiarity with Unix, Linux systems and commands along with some shell scripting.
  • Experience with object-oriented analysis and design techniques.
  • Thorough understanding of developing scalable web applications - infrastructure (firewalls, load balancers, storage, monitoring, security etc.) and have experience with orchestration to develop a cloud solution.
  • High level of self-motivation, desire to deliver stellar solutions and willingness to work in a distributed team environment.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience working on an agile team such as Scrum.
  • Experience writing code to interact with AWS services (e.g., S3, SQS, Lambda, Elasticache, MongoDB etc).
  • Experience developing use cases, developing the solution and presenting outcomes.
  • Docker, Konvoy, Kubernetes.
  • Jenkins, Harness, Gitlab, Monitoring Tools.
  • Masters in Computer Science or related field is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a high-pressured, tight-deadline environment.
  • Must be able to multitask efficiently and progressively and work comfortably in an ever-changing data environment.

CUSTOMER REQUIREMENTS

  • Clearance – Ability to obtain and hold a public trust position and favorable suitability based on a CBP Background Investigation.
  • Citizenship – Must be a US Citizen.
  • Location – Hybrid with on-site (Ashburn, VA) visits 2-3 days per week and if a mission need. All candidates must be within the GWA/commutable area.
Responsibilities
  • Develop Use Cases for implementing new technologies that solve “real world” problems found in enforcing border security.
  • Influences the adoption of new technologies to be used by other project teams to promote the adoption of new technologies across the organization.
  • Develop and maintain Enterprise Systems best practices; support knowledge sharing across the enterprise.
  • Follow tool adoption processes and bring innovative ideas that promote forward thinking, optimization, security and savings across the enterprise
  • Ready to provide hands-on application team surge support:
  • Design and implement microservices using the Spring framework.
  • Use modern software engineering tools including Eclipse, VS Code, and Atlassian Suites for design, development, and testing the software.
  • Work with users in an Agile development approach to understand and document requirements in JIRA, then elicit feedback and refine solutions through demonstrations.
  • Present the solution at formal and informal design reviews, and document the design according to the Government’s system lifecycle methodology.
