JAVA DEVELOPER - JVM

Location: Central London

Working Pattern: Hybrid 1-2 days in the office and the rest from home!

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are working with a high-growth financial services technology scale-up that is entering an exciting phase of expansion.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Java Developer with strong JVM knowledge to join a growing engineering team and take on a genuine technical challenge. You will work on high-performance, scalable systems while contributing to the continued development of the company's technology platform.

The successful candidate will be technically strong, commercially aware and motivated by the opportunity to work within a fast-paced scale-up environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, develop and maintain high-performance Java applications.
• Work extensively with the JVM and contribute to application performance and scalability.
• Develop and optimise distributed, highly available systems.
• Investigate and resolve complex technical and performance issues.
• Contribute to system architecture and technical design decisions.
• Write clean, maintainable and robust production-quality code.
• Work closely with other engineers, product teams and technical stakeholders.
• Contribute to engineering standards, best practices and continuous improvement.
• Support the evolution and scaling of the technology platform as the business grows.

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Strong commercial Java development experience.
• Strong understanding of the JVM and Java runtime environment.
• Experience developing high-performance or distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of concurrency, memory management and application performance.
• Experience with modern software development practices and CI/CD.
• Strong understanding of software architecture and design principles.
• Financial Services experience is highly desirable.
• Experience working within a high-growth or scale-up environment would be advantageous.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
