About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer specialising in Java to join a high-performing engineering team within a fast-paced technology company based in Dublin City Centre.

You’ll play a key role in designing, developing and delivering scalable backend services and APIs, working closely with other engineers, product managers and technical stakeholders. This is a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems and contributing to engineering best practices.

The initial contract is for 6 months on a rolling basis, with the expectation of ongoing collaboration subject to business requirements and performance.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop and maintain robust, scalable backend services using Java and modern backend technologies.
Build and maintain RESTful APIs and distributed services.
Contribute to architectural and technical design decisions.
Write clean, maintainable and well-tested code.
Work closely with frontend engineers, product managers, QA and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality products.
Identify and resolve performance, scalability and reliability issues.
Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards and best practices.
Support automated testing, CI/CD and deployment processes.
Troubleshoot production issues and contribute to root-cause analysis.
Mentor and support less experienced engineers where appropriate.
Contribute to an Agile/Scrum development environment.
