As a Jewish Rabbi, you will pay a crucial role in providing spiritual care and support to residents and staff during a pivotal time in their lives. Through worship, pastoral guidance, and faith-based programmes, you will help individuals find purpose, dignity, and hope. HMP Dovegate is a Category B prison in Staffordshire, housing up to 1,100 adult male residents. With a focus on rehabilitation and personal development, our facility includes a Therapeutic Community that supports residents in their journey towards reintegration into society. At HMP Dovegate, respect, understanding, and support are at the core of everything we do. Main responsibilities of the role include: Act as a faith advisor, providing spiritual guidance and pastoral care to Jewish residents, staff, and their families. Lead worship, prayer, and meditation services, and facilitate religious study groups. Promote awareness of Jewish practices and coordinate recognition of religious events. Support residents in their resettlement by building connections with external Jewish faith communities. Collaborate with the multi-faith team to ensure inclusive and effective chaplaincy services. Provide pastoral care in times of crisis and contribute to the rehabilitation journey of residents. Assist with administrative duties and contribute to the development of chaplaincy policies and programmes. What you’ll need to do the role Ordination as a Rabbi or equivalent qualifications as a Lay Person in the Jewish faith. Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and inspire others. Experience in pastoral care, chaplaincy, or related roles, ideally within a custodial or similar environment. A collaborative mindset and commitment to working in a diverse team. IT literacy and the ability to manage administrative responsibilities effectively.
