Description

16 JUN 2025

A boutique VFX studio in Sydney is on the lookout for a Junior/Mid Pipeline Developer to join their growing team. This is a unique opportunity to get your foot in the door at a growing, high-quality and supportive studio where your work will have a direct impact on projects and production efficiency.
We’re after someone who’s confident writing Python, has solid IT instincts, and is keen to learn more about production workflows and VFX infrastructure. You’ll be maintaining and developing pipeline tools, solving day-to-day production tech issues, and managing the render farm to ensure jobs run smoothly and on time.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting and developing in-house pipeline tools (mostly in Python)
  • Managing and monitoring the render farm (job submissions, failures, performance)
  • Assisting artists with technical issues related to pipeline or render workflows
  • Writing documentation and keeping tools well-maintained and version-controlled
  • Collaborating with supervisors and leads to improve pipeline efficiency
  • Handling basic IT support (e.g., user setups, troubleshooting, software installs)

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong Python scripting skills (bonus if you’ve used Python in a production context)
  • Familiarity with VFX software such as Nuke, Maya, or Houdini
  • A basic understanding of render farm tools (e.g., Deadline, Qube, or equivalent)
  • General IT know-how (Windows and/or Linux, networking basics)
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to dive into new challenges
  • Good communication skills and a team-focused mindset

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience with ShotGrid, Git, or asset management systems
  • Knowledge of cloud-based rendering or virtual machines
  • Previous experience in a VFX, animation, or post-production environment

This is a great role for someone early in their tech/dev journey, especially if you’re looking to grow within a creative studio environment. You’ll have access to mentorship, a wide range of production challenges to solve, and room to develop your skills across pipeline, systems, and VFX workflows.
