Description Job Type: Hourly, non-exempt Starting Pay: $16 - $18.50 per hour (with annual raises) Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8AM-4PM (40 hrs per week) **Occasional weekend or evening availability is required** Location: Based in Pendleton, travel to Hermiston and Milton-Freewater (company vehicle provided) Description: We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Job Coach to join our STEP Center Program (Steps to Empowerment Program). In this role, you will support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in developing independent living skills, participating in community activities, and achieving employment and personal goals. This role involves direct caregiving and may require personal care for male and female clients. Key Responsibilities Provide day support and community living services to clients Assist individuals in developing skills needed for employment and independence Provide job coaching and workplace training Help clients build social skills and community connections Support individuals with daily living tasks and community participation Transport clients to appointments, work sites, or activities when needed Document services, progress notes, and client goals accurately (on a computer) Follow individual support plans and behavior support plans Ensure client safety and follow all program policies and procedures Provide personal care to male and female clients Work in Pendleton, Milton-Freewater, or Hermiston, as needed (company vehicle provided) Employee Benefits: Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance (partially company paid) Life insurance and disability insurance (company paid) Vision (add on), additional life insurance, critical illness insurance, hospital insurance, accident insurance (employee paid) 501c3 Nonprofit - Eligible for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) on your federal student loans Company vehicle is provided for client transportation Casual dress code Paid sick and vacation days 1.5x pay for working on required holidays Requirements Must be over the age of 18 years old Must pass a pre-employment drug test Must pass a pre-employment driving records screening Must have a valid driver's license that is insurable by HPI's auto insurance provider (Driving Required Position) Must pass a pre-employment background check by Oregon DHS (renewed every 2 years) Must be able to communicate effectively in English (written and verbal) Physical Demands Position is active in nature. Must be able to monitor and observe the activities of program participants. Regularly move about or position self to supervise and interact with participants at their level. Occasionally lift, transport, position, push/pull or move up to 50 pounds using proper lifting techniques. Must be sufficiently mobile and possess a range of motion to perform repetitive standing, walking, balancing, stooping, bending, crouching, crawling, sitting on the floor, reaching, squatting, kneeling, and twisting. Ability to react quickly to the physical actions of program participant. Administrative and supervisory activities will require ability to operate keyboard-driven equipment. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Sufficiently mobile to attend activities and meetings within the Umatilla County. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
