STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT

  • Establish and develop links with organisations who may be supporting or hosting potential interns and establish a presence where appropriate to generate programme starts.
  • Work closely with employers to understand job requirements and expectations for interns with SEND.
  • Facilitate effective communication between interns and their supervisors.
  • Provide guidance to employers on best practices for supporting interns with SEND in the workplace.
  • Collaborate with families, educators, and other support networks to ensure a holistic approach to intern development
  • Participate in meetings and reviews to discuss intern progress, set goals, and adjust support strategies as needed.
  • Coordinate and lead annual EHCP reviews for young individuals during their time on programme.
    NB: This job description is designed as guidance and there may be requirements to take on additional or alternative tasks to support the business as required. Your key tasks and responsibilities will be agreed with your line manager as part of the Triage performance management cycle.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking a committed Job Coach who will be responsible for providing on-the-job support to young individuals aged 16 – 24 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) while undertaking work placements. Our goal is to provide personal and professional growth to young individuals, ensuring they achieve their fullest potential. This role involves working closely with interns and work placement providers to provide tailored support and engagement to ensure a positive and productive work experience, ultimately leading to greater independence and a successful transition in to paid employment.

Required criteria:

  • Experience of working in a target driven environment with proven success of engaging and supporting individuals.
  • Previous experience working with young individuals with SEND, preferably in a vocational or educational setting.
  • Experience in a training, guidance, education or learning environment that supports individuals.
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting young individuals to achieve their goals.
  • Must have excellent face to face and telephone communication skills with the ability to work on their own initiative.
  • Possess high standards and have excellent organisational skills, being able to prioritise workloads and deadlines.
  • A willingness to learn and ability to adapt to and embrace change.
  • Must be dynamic and creative.
  • Well organised and self-motivated.

  • Provide personalised coaching to develop job-specific skills and essential soft skills such as communication, time management, and teamwork.
  • Assist young interns in understanding and performing job tasks effectively.
  • To motivate, stimulate and focus interns to positively engage in their work placements.
  • To provide advice, guidance and support to interns during their internship and for those that transition into employment, to maximise the potential for them to sustain in work.
