QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Career and Work Diploma or equivalent with relevant practicum experience.
  • Minimum of six (6) months of experience facilitating employment workshops and counselling.
  • Must have nine (9) months of experience working with employers and securing employment opportunities.
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with internationally trained professionals.
  • Strong knowledge and experience using virtual meeting tools
  • Experience in facilitating online training on MS Teams.
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Moodle.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Internet, and email is essential.
  • Knowledge of wage subsidies and/other Employment Support Programs offered through Employment Ontario.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exceptional multitasking skills.
  • Knowledge of access to professions for newcomers and their pre-employment needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Vehicle is required for travelling throughout the GTA.
  • Must be fully vaccinated or be exempt from vaccination on human rights grounds. COSTI reserves the right to require information establishing the validity of the exemption.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and facilitate pre-employment workshops online or in person, providing essential training on job search strategies, resume writing, and interview preparation.
  • Identify participants’ job readiness, training needs, and career goals through individual assessments and consultations.
  • Provide personalized counseling and support to program participants, by developing individualized job search plans and career portfolios, both in-person and virtually.
  • Review and provide feedback on participants’ resumes and cover letters, assisting them in improving their job search materials.
  • Prepare program participants for job interviews, offering feedback and coaching for both online and in-person settings.
  • Conduct outreach efforts to attract potential candidates to the program.
  • Connect program participants with employers, fostering networking opportunities and employment opportunities.
  • Assist in organizing networking events, and job fairs to foster valuable connections and provide support within the industry.
  • Assist in organizing presentations by guest speakers from various sectors, providing insights into industry best practices and career pathways.
  • Facilitate mentorship and job shadowing opportunities, as well as exposure to work placements, enabling participants to gain practical experience in their desired field.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation, including participant progress, employer contacts, and program statistics.
  • Conduct follow-ups with participants upon completion of the program, monitoring their employment status and providing ongoing support as needed.
  • Stay informed about trends and demands within the Canadian job market, offering valuable insights and guidance to participants.
