Responsibilities

JOB COACH DUTIES:

  • Conducts and completes environmental analysis, job analysis and non-handicapped task analysis appropriate to job placements for students.
  • Develops specific criterion-referenced training programs and objectives according to student needs.
  • Provides time-limited and outcome-based job training on site, including proper documentation, reporting and file maintenance.
  • Utilizes a systematic follow-along schedule, making contacts with employers and students following the fading process.
  • Assists in the development of jobs and training sites in the community by speaking individually to employers or making presentations to groups of employers.
  • Provides transportation for students to and from job sites.
  • Serves as a member of the multidisciplinary team working toward the transition of students from school to work.
  • Serves as an advocate for students and facilitates interactions between the business community and teenagers with disabilities.

EDUCATIONAL COACH DUTIES:

  • Academic tutor when needed for WNCC classes.
  • Assist students in accessing and using technology for coursework.
  • Assist students with assignments in courses as assigned.
  • Maintain accurate records regarding students.
  • Encourage appropriate college behavior.
  • Foster Student independence.
  • Help students with time management.
  • Relay communication about student progress to LifeLink staff.
  • Serve and work as a member of the IEP team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintain confidentiality regarding educational information and records.
  • Channels effective communication among employers, school personnel, parents and students.
  • Use of assistive technology appropriate for students with disabilities.
  • Participates in public education activities as assigned.
  • Participates in in-service sessions and other ESU staff functions.
  • Carry out therapeutic regimens such as behavior modification and personal development programs, under the supervision of special education teachers, psychologists, speech-language pathologists or other professionals.
  • Provide disabled students with assistive devices, supportive technology, and assistance accessing facilities such as restrooms.
  • Exercises initiative in giving assistance to teachers and students wherever and whenever it is needed regardless of customary duties and assignments.
  • Provides a positive image of ESU #13.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director, Principal or designee.
