Description City of Grants, New Mexico Position Title: Animal Control Officer (Part-Time) Department: Animal Care Center Status: Part-Time Position Summary The City of Grants is seeking a reliable and compassionate individual to serve as a Part-Time Animal Control Officer. This position is responsible for enforcing animal control ordinances, responding to calls for service, and ensuring the safety and welfare of both animals and the community. This role requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interaction with the public and handling animals in a safe and humane manner. Key Responsibilities Respond to animal-related calls, including stray, injured, or aggressive animals Enforce City ordinances related to animal control Capture and transport animals safely and humanely Clean and maintain animal housing areas Assist with feeding, watering, and general care of animals Prepare reports and maintain accurate records Interact with the public regarding complaints, inquiries, and education Assist with adoption efforts and community outreach Perform other duties as assigned Working Conditions Exposure to animals, including aggressive or injured animals Outdoor work in varying weather conditions Ability to lift, carry, and handle animals and equipment For a full job description email HR @ mmaes@grantsnm.gov Requirements Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required Valid New Mexico Driver’s License with a good driving record Ability to safely handle animals of various sizes and temperaments Strong communication and customer service skills Ability to work independently and make sound decisions Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in animal care, animal control, or related field Knowledge of animal behavior and handling techniques
