ABOUT THE ROLE

Essential Estates (a new venture from Summerall Law PC) is looking for a Product Operations & Junior Developer to help us build out key functionality in our estate planning platform. This role blends structured document work, light software development, and process design in a dynamic startup environment.
You’ll work directly with attorneys and our senior full-stack developer, gaining hands-on experience with modern tools while making an immediate impact on families navigating estate planning. We also encourage and support the use of AI tools to speed up and improve your work.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Document Automation (Primary)
  • Build and maintain document templates in Formstack (or equivalent document automation tools).
  • Map structured data fields into legal forms and check them for accuracy.
  • Work with attorneys to ensure the documents generate correctly from client inputs.
  • Platform Development (Secondary)
  • Collaborate with our senior developer on Essential Estates features.
  • Implement client-facing flows, checklists, and forms in the platform.
  • Work on front-end components (React, Material UI) and, where possible, backend logic (NestJS/Node).
  • Test and refine features with client and attorney feedback.
  • Process, Usability & Design
  • Apply design thinking to simplify complex, inconsistent rules into clear client journeys.
  • Design intuitive client-facing flows and checklists that are easy to follow.
  • Turn messy institution-specific trust funding requirements into polished, repeatable experiences.
  • Draft clear, empathetic copy and visual mockups to support user-friendly design.
  • Keep institution requirements up to date, logging changes for the team.
