Job Title: Inventory Analyst (1-Year Contract)
Location: Ville Saint-Laurent, QC
Contract | 1 Year (Potential for Full-Time)
About Viscofan Canada:
Viscofan Canada is part of the global Viscofan Group, the world’s leading producer of meat casings and food packaging solutions. As we continue to streamline and professionalize our Canadian operations, we are looking for a highly organized and analytical Inventory Analyst to join our team on a 12-month contract, with the possibility of becoming permanent based on performance and business needs.
Position Summary:
The Inventory Analyst will be responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy, ensuring FIFO rotation, and supporting the execution of warehouse transfers across our internal and external storage locations. You will play a hands-on role in managing cycle counts, analyzing stock levels vs. demand, and optimizing warehouse space utilization. This is a critical operational role interfacing with warehouse staff, supply chain teams, and customer service to ensure our distribution flows run efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cycle Count Management:
  • Lead and document regular cycle counts across storage sites.
  • Investigate and reconcile discrepancies using SAP S/4HANA.
  • Ensure timely data correction and reporting to support financial accuracy.
  • FIFO & Stock Rotation:
  • Monitor and execute stock movements to enforce FIFO rotation across all internal and external warehouses.
  • Prevent product aging and ensure proper lot usage based on customer demand and shelf-life rules.
  • Transfer Execution & Optimization:
  • Plan and execute warehouse transfers manually and via system transactions.
  • Balance inbound inventory (in transit) with current stock levels and forecasted usage to determine correct warehouse placements.
  • Warehouse Space Optimization:
  • Analyze space constraints and recommend re-slotting or transfer plans to maximize layout and efficiency.
  • Work closely with 3PL partners and internal teams to support clean, well-organized storage zones.
  • Data-Driven Inventory Planning:
  • Use Excel tools to model ideal stock distribution by location.
  • Compare actual vs forecast vs in-transit vs available metrics to recommend transfers and space actions.
  • Collaborate with demand planning and customer service for inventory planning insights.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in inventory management or warehouse analytics.
  • Strong Excel skills – pivot tables, formulas, data consolidation and trend analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA (inventory management and stock movement tools).
  • Understanding of warehouse processes, inventory accuracy, and stock aging principles (FIFO, lot control).
  • Strong attention to detail and accountability for execution accuracy.
  • Ability to work both independently and cross-functionally with warehousing and operations teams.

Contract Details:

  • Contract Length: 12 months
  • Potential for Permanent Role: Based on performance and evolving needs
  • Location: Ville Saint-Laurent, QC (Hybrid or On-site depending on team requirements)
