Mowi’s Global R&D and Technical Department is seeking a results-driven Project Manager to work on our Smart Farming Technologies. Mowi’s smart farming represents a comprehensive approach to modernizing aquaculture using new technology, both in seawater and freshwater phases of salmon production that enables volume growth, cost effectiveness and enhanced sustainability.
This is an opportunity to solve practical challenges in the intersection of technology, biology, and sustainability. You will be working hands-on with technology and collaborating with a cross functional team to make meaningful progress in advancing salmon farming production.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Relevant higher education, for example a degree in aquaculture or engineering.
  • Practical technical experience in the aquaculture industry, ideally with Smart Farming technologies.
  • Strong mechanical and technical skills and understanding, with a passion for exploring new tools and systems.
  • A problem-solver who enjoys translating technical concepts into practical solutions.
  • Experience with managing R&D projects or collaborative operational improvements projects. This entails being structured and systematic in managing projects.
  • Results-driven and flexible to adapt to new projects.
Responsibilities

You will work closely with farming and operational units to ensure the successful implementation of Smart Farming Technology. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Identify and assess locations for Smart Farming, also including submerged farming technology, technology targeting lice management and technologies that monitor and mitigate environmental insults.
  • Support the implementation of running and future Smart Farming projects, either in seawater or freshwater production, depending on the needs of the organization.
  • Represent Mowi in forums on Smart Farming, fostering relationships with technology suppliers and understanding industry developments.
  • Lead pilot projects at selected sites, focusing on practical implementation, testing, and operational improvements.
  • Develop, refine, and document operational procedures, risk assessments, and best practices for Smart Farming. Incorporate learnings from pilots and ongoing operations while addressing knowledge gaps in collaboration with farming units.
  • Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) for Smart Farming operations and share updates with internal stakeholders. Prepare materials that support informed decision-making, including cost-benefit evaluations.
