JOB SUMMARY
The Journey Level Lineworker is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and removal of overhead and underground electrical distribution systems in accordance with Division standards and safety protocols. This position plays a critical role in responding to emergency outages and after-hours calls, performing fault location, system restoration, and equipment operation in a timely and professional manner. The Lineworker ensures system integrity through the inspection, operation, and troubleshooting of transformers, meters, and switching gear, while also supporting public safety through line clearance, training outreach, and accurate locates for construction projects. This role requires effective communication, teamwork, and a commitment to continuous learning and public service.
Wage: $56.01 per hour for the first six months; increases to $58.96 per hour thereafter.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent
- Requires a four (4) year Electrical Journey-level Lineworker apprenticeship
- Requires an Electrical Journey-level Lineworker certification
- Requires a valid Colorado Commercial Driver’s License
- Requires First Aid and CPR certification or the ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
- Requires the following ICS Certifications: IS100 & IS700 or the ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
- Considerable knowledge of electric distribution system construction and maintenance,
- Considerable knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in construction, maintenance and troubleshooting of overhead and underground electric distribution and substation systems.
- Considerable knowledge of principles of electrical theory as applied to power systems.
- Considerable knowledge of transformer and other equipment connections for various applications.
- Considerable knowledge of applicable electrical codes and regulations, such as the NESC (National Electric Code), etc.
- Considerable knowledge of the necessary precautions in working high-voltage lines.
- Considerable knowledge of safe work practices and procedures including first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

- Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills, analytical skills, statistical and mathematical abilities and interpersonal skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write complex reports and distill information for many audiences.
- This position requires close, distance and peripheral vision.
- Ability to hear an average conversational voice in a quiet room, using one or both ears, at a distance of six (6) feet. Ability to hear sounds and signals indicating work and safety necessities.
- This position requires standing, walking and sitting for periods of time. Utilization of hands and fingers to operate office computer keyboard and equipment required. Must be able to reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel or crouch if needed.
- Must be able to lift up to seventy-five (75) pounds as needed and frequently lift up to twenty (20) pounds.
- This position requires effective proficiency in the use of computer software and applications, office equipment, and professional telephone use. The ability to adequately type quickly with few to no errors is also very important. This position will often require multi-tasking in the use of computer, phone, and office equipment while interacting with clients. Candidates for this position may be required to take and pass technology proficiency assessments prior to employment.
