Description

We are seeking a qualified pressure welder with valid Level A certification for an opportunity at our Burnaby manufacturing plant. This is a 6-month position with full-time hours to cover a leave, with the possibility of extension. As part of our recruitment activities, shortlisted candidates will have the hands-on opportunity to complete a welder’s qualification test (subject to ASME Section IX standards).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of related apprenticeship program or equivalent training
  • Must have a Level A ticket
  • 2+ years technical school in welding/metallurgy with 2+ years in cutting, welding and fabrication of various metal and alloy components
  • Ability to learn and pass various weld certification test(s)
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and blueprints, apply knowledge of weld rods, weld wire, weld equipment settings and basic math skills
  • Possess basic hand tools, proper safety shoes, and attire as specified by a minimum tool requirements list specific to the facility requirements
    Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
    Pay: $40.68-$45.41 per hour

Responsibilities

Working under limited supervision within your role as a Welder, you will:

  • Set-up and operate welding and cutting equipment under limited supervision
  • Weld, fabricate and recondition components and parts to customer, OEM and industry standards using gas tungsten arc, shielded metal arc, gas metal arc, and flux cored arc-welding operations
  • Cut materials and components using oxy-acetylene, air arc and plasma equipment
  • Interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, sketches;
  • Perform precision metal cutting, grinding, shaping, fitting and welding
  • Work within appropriate weld procedure guidelines to meet specifications and apply knowledge of metals and alloys being welded or cut
  • Finish and fit parts to required procedure and drawing specifications; will include casting repairs, small pipe/tubing, various alloys and general fabrication welding.
