UPMC Corporate Construction is seeking a Journeyman 1–Carpenter to join our team in Harrisburg, PA. This full‑time position follows a Monday–Friday schedule from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM and includes local travel to various jobsites throughout Central Pennsylvania. This role is responsible for constructing, repairing, and maintaining structural and architectural woodwork, millwork, casework, and related building components throughout the facility. The position performs both rough and finished carpentry, masonry repairs, and a wide range of general maintenance tasks, including lock repair, window glass installation, flooring work, and furniture restoration. Responsibilities: Construct and maintain structural and architectural woodwork, equipment and fixtures; build millwork, construct casework per print and perform masonry repairs as needed. Maintain clean and safe work areas, equipment rooms and shop areas. Operate power woodworking machinery such a lathe, saws, sander, power actuated tools, etc. Perform all work following infection control procedures. Perform any maintenance work required in which skills can be utilized. Perform related duties such as repair and install locks, install window glass, cut, fit and cement linoleum, lay resilient tile floors, etc. Perform rough and finished carpentry, i.e. build millwork, and construct casework. Record personal work orders and submit hours to supervisor in a daily basis. Repair furniture, window, floor or structural and architectural woodwork by measuring, sawing, squaring, fitting, sanding and nailing or other processes where articles require closely fitted parts. Responsible for setting up appropriate level of infection control containment (ICRA) based on risk level and maintaining the integrity of that containment. High school diploma or GED required. Trade school or trade specific multi-discipline certificate required. Military experience considered. 2 years carpentry experience working in a healthcare or commercial building environment.
