UPMC Northwest Hospital Seneca, PA Status: Full time Shift: typically, 2pm - 10:30pm Join the UPMC Northwest team, where you’ll play a key role in keeping our facilities safe, efficient, and well-maintained. This hands-on position involves performing a variety of maintenance, repair, and inspection tasks across building systems with minimal supervision. Responsibilities: Perform general maintenance and repair tasks as directed with minimal supervision. Inspect and maintain electrical distribution systems, identifying issues such as short circuits, loose connectors, and worn components. Inspect and respond to fire alarm systems as the first responder for all fire alarms. Maintain clean and safe work areas, including equipment rooms and shop spaces. Record all shift responsibilities and maintenance activities in required logs (e.g., medical gas, equipment rounds). Monitor and maintain water chemistry and testing procedures on building systems and equipment. Operate and maintain a variety of Direct Digital Control (DDC) building systems. Order materials and supplies as needed. Perform all work in compliance with infection control standards. Complete minor carpentry and painting projects. Record work orders and daily hours; submit to supervisor. Perform minor plumbing repairs, including fixing leaks, replacing defective pipes, soldering, and unclogging drains. Operate and maintain mechanical systems such as steam pressure heating, water, ventilation, and refrigeration systems. Conduct regular rounds of mechanical equipment and machine rooms as assigned. Perform required maintenance, repair, and inspection of beds and other equipment. Participate in snow removal and work safely in adverse weather conditions. Demonstrate system-wide competencies and behaviors. Perform other duties as assigned.. Education and Experience: Option 1: Completion of an associate’s degree, a two-year Mechanical or related Trade School program, or an Apprenticeship in a trade, plus 4 years of general maintenance experience in a healthcare or commercial environment. Option 2: Completion of a high school diploma or GED, plus 8 years of general maintenance experience in a healthcare or commercial environment. Military experience may be considered in place of civilian experience.
