Description
Responsibilities: Accountable for the safe operation and maintenance of the hospital's electrical systems and equipment including generators, fire alarm, overhead paging system and nurse call. Inspect and test lighting, signal communication, control and power circuits and equipment. Install new wiring and electrical machinery. Isolate and repair/replace defective wiring, switches, motors and other electrical equipment. Maintain clean and safe work area, equipment rooms and shop areas. Operate and maintain switchgear and electrical machinery. Perform all work following infection control procedures. Record personal work orders and submit hours to supervisor in a daily basis. Repair and/or install conduit, fittings, motors, generators transformers, electrical wiring and a variety of appliances and hospital equipment. High School diploma or equivalent is required. Completion of trade school program which includes such items as blueprint reading, electricity, machine shop work, mathematics and physics. Must have three to four years of hospital or commercial work experience OR what is required by local governing authority. Knowledge of City, State and Federal codes is required. May in the course of their duties be in rooms where medications are stored. No contact with medications is allowed.
