  • Journeyman Carpenter certification
  • Extensive experience in residential renovations, including structural framing
  • Comfortable working at heights on tasks like roofing and exterior finishes
  • Valid Fall Arrest and Elevated Work Platform certifications
  • Current Standard First Aid certification
  • Strong safety mindset with an eye for spotting hazards and taking steps to prevent incidents
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a clean driving record
  • Equipped with your own set of tools and ready to work
  • Professional, personable, and confident in client-facing situations
  • Strong communication skills and comfortable using construction software
  • Ability to deliver high-quality work within project timelines

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As a Journeyman Carpenter at Ackard, you’ll work under the supervision of the Site Supervisors, and the Construction Manager to transform spaces through top-notch renovation and custom new home construction projects. You’ll be involved in hands-on work across all phases of construction, from demolition and framing to finishing and detailing. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Arriving early to ensure the site is ready for immediate productivity
  • Reading blueprints, scopes, and work orders; asking questions to confirm understanding
  • Performing demolition work to prepare for construction
  • Framing and installing foundations, walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs using materials like wood, steel, concrete, and composites
  • Erecting scaffolding and ladders for above-ground work
  • Installing doors, windows, hardware, interior and exterior finishes
  • Completing drywall, patching, painting, tile work, and finishing carpentry
  • Performing concrete work including form setup, mixing, and pouring
  • Working alongside sub-trades to ensure smooth, coordinated project flow
  • Logging daily work and updates using Buildertrend construction software
  • Keeping a clean and organized jobsite through regular housekeeping
  • Following all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements
  • Contributing to team success by stepping in wherever needed within your skill set
  • Maintaining tools and equipment in working order and ensuring machines are serviced regularly
  • Performing daily hazard assessments and participating in weekly toolbox meetings
  • Following all Ackard safety protocols, standards, and procedures, and adhering to building codes and regulations
