Description This is a full time position with GNS Electric Inc. The Journeyman Electrician E-6 participates in the construction, installation, alterations, additions, modifications, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, conductors, facilities, and equipment within the electrical construction industry. The Journeyman Electrician E-6 must be able to perform all electrical tasks with general supervision. This role may be part of a crew or act as the lead person directing a crew and should have the ability to direct less experienced apprentices and helpers. Primary Responsibilities Responsible for supervising and working with a crew Capable of installation of all types of electrical work Capable of troubleshooting motors, controls, circuits, and equipment Efficient in the areas of layout and blueprints Possesses the knowledge to rig and set up for all locations Possesses basic theory knowledge Responsible for positively identifying wire colors Responsible for reading, comprehending, and drawing prints and schematics Responsible for bending conduit using hand benders Responsible for using power tools, saws, threaders, wire tuggers, hydraulic benders, and knockout punches Capable of digging trenches using hand tools or power equipment Operates trenchers, backhoes, and lift trucks safely Practices and comprehends safe work procedures as outlined in the GNS Electric, Inc. Safety Manual, Haz-Com Policy, and Lockout/Tagout Policy Operates two-handed tools and equipment including cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, and jackhammers Operates company vehicles with manual and automatic transmissions Possesses the ability to read and interpret maps, instructional manuals, specifications, worksite directions, blueprints, and written instructions Able to operate and work from mechanical personnel lifts (electric or gas powered) Intimately familiar with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Policy and agrees to work only on de-energized, locked-out circuits Possesses the skills of all lower E-rating job descriptions Competencies Technical Capacity Problem Solving and Analysis Project Management Communication Proficiency and Professional Demeanor at all times Personal Effectiveness and Credibility Work Environment Work performed in varying weather conditions depending on job location and season Willingness to utilize construction site sanitary facilities Ability to work in restricted areas such as switchgear rooms, manholes, utility tunnels, crawl spaces, and attics Required use of personal protective equipment including hard hat, safety glasses, and respirator when required Ability to work 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, including overtime and night shifts as required Ability to work in noisy environments Disclaimer The statements above describe the general nature and level of work performed by employees in this classification. Requirements Qualifications High School graduate or holder of a G.E.D. Journeyman or Master Electrician license required Minimum of 5 years of commercial or industrial electrical experience Demonstrated experience of ethical leadership Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations Physical Demands The physical demands described below represent those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
