About the role We are seeking a skilled and dependable Journeyman Electrician to join our team. This role is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in residential and light commercial environments. The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge, a commitment to safety and craftsmanship, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with field crews and project teams. The Journeyman Electrician plays a key role in ensuring all electrical work is completed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with local and national electrical codes. This position also supports apprentices and junior electricians through mentorship and hands-on training. What you'll do Electrical Installation & Repair Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in residential and light commercial properties Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and wiring diagrams Install wiring, outlets, panels, fixtures, lighting systems, and related electrical equipment Perform upgrades, remodels, and service work as needed Maintenance & Troubleshooting Inspect electrical systems to identify hazards, defects, and necessary repairs Troubleshoot electrical issues including power outages, circuit failures, and faulty wiring Use testing equipment such as multimeters and circuit testers to verify functionality and safety Document findings and complete repairs efficiently and accurately Code Compliance & Safety Ensure all work complies with NEC standards and local electrical codes Follow company safety procedures and OSHA regulations at all times Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain a safe work environment Stay current on code updates, safety standards, and industry best practices Project Coordination Coordinate work activities with team members, contractors, and other trades on job sites Assist with project planning, scheduling, and material management Communicate project progress, changes, and potential issues clearly and professionally Participate in job site meetings and maintain strong client relationships Training & Team Support Mentor apprentices and less experienced electricians through hands-on guidance and instruction Promote high standards of workmanship, productivity, and safety awareness Support a collaborative and positive team environment Tools & Equipment Maintain tools, equipment, and company property in safe working condition Ensure proper storage, organization, and care of electrical tools and testing equipment Qualifications Valid City of Buffalo Journeyman Electrician License Minimum 4 years of residential or light commercial electrical experience Strong knowledge of NEC and local electrical codes Proficient in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams Ability to work independently and as part of a field crew Comfortable working outdoors and in varying field conditions Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills Commitment to craftsmanship, safety, sustainability, and quality workmanship Preferred Qualifications Experience with energy-efficient lighting systems and electrical upgrades Familiarity with both high-voltage and low-voltage systems Experience mentoring apprentices or leading small crews Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
