As a Journeyman Electrician you will plan layouts, install and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment for commercial buildings. Requirements Performs installation, alterations, additions and/or repairs of electrical systems, conductors and associated materials and equipment. Possess and maintain required personal tools at all times. Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools. Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components. Responsible for securing tools and materials from storage areas to complete their assigned tasks. Work from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures. Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous. Meets attendance standards and complies with late/absence notification procedures. Place conduit (pipes or tubing) inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes. Perform physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches to lay conduit and moving and lifting heavy objects. Provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services. Read and interpret maps, instructional manuals, specifications, work site directions, blueprints and written instruction. Required Skills & Competencies Have the ability to read and understand electrical schematics and drawings. Be familiar with electrical tools, wire types, sizing and wire connector types. Work well with others and be able to work alone on tasks that require only one person. Understand how to read and translate the information found within all schematic wiring P&ID’s process diagrams and experience with applicable codes and standards Proven organizational skills. Excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills required. Strong interpersonal skills. Proven problem solver, results focused, self-motivated. Ability to work at heights. Must be able to work under pressure. Required Experience & Education 1-3 years of experience within the Industrial Field. High School Diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred. Experience in energy, industrial, or construction environments highly preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to lift at least 50 pounds. Ability to reach with arms and use tools above/over the head. Ability to perform repetitive movements. Ability to stand (for extended periods of time), walk, stoop, kneel, squat, crawl and twist. Ability to sit, balance and climb ladders, scaffolds and other objects. Ability to move in and around confined and cluttered places and uneven areas. Ability to distinguish colors.
