QUALIFICATIONS

  • Journeyman Heavy Duty Technician On Road certificate with minimum one-year experience.
  • CVIP Licence
  • Able to demonstrate good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Easily read, evaluate, and respond to product specifications and drawings, and perform normal math calculations.
  • Familiar and comfortable with various saws, grinders and other hand tools.
  • Able to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Ability to handle changing schedules and priorities, with high level prioritization skills.
  • Strong work ethic and organizational planning skills with attention to detail.
Responsibilities
  • Effectively manage, schedule and prioritize maintenance work orders and apprentices.
  • Rebuild and make repairs to diesel/gasoline, and electric powered equipment.
  • Plan, inspect, service, maintain, diagnose, troubleshoot, dismantle, and replace unit assemblies or parts.
  • Communicate with supervisors and other divisions on methods, procedures, standards, and hazards.
  • Exercise judgment in the selection of materials and tools as well as methods so that the job is performed in accordance with accepted manufacturers specifications and safety standards.
  • Trouble-shoot, plan, and perform work requiring a strong knowledge of mechanical, low voltage direct current, electronic and pneumatic principles, trade techniques, properties of various materials, and operating and application principles of equipment.
  • Follow specifications on complex equipment diagrams, parts drawings and catalogues.
  • Examine and reason, through cause analysis, for failure or improper operation of engines, pumps, running gear, parts, and equipment.
  • Repair and rebuild engines, hydraulic and electric systems of diesel/gasoline, electric, propane equipment.
  • Repair and rebuild transmissions, and differentials.
  • Use precision testing equipment to determine source and cause of fault and to perform close tolerance adjustment.
  • Test and operate repaired equipment as required.
  • Make field repairs as required to bring equipment back on-line.
  • Keep tools and equipment in clean and orderly condition.
  • Complete required paperwork.
  • Successfully complete safety training as required on an ongoing basis.
  • Observe all safety procedures and use proper Personal Protective Equipment.
