POSITION SUMMARY

Our Acheson Fleet Maintenance division is currently seeking an experienced Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician. As the successful candidate, your responsibilities will include repairing and maintaining our fleet of Hydrovac trucks, Water trucks, Highway Trucks and high-pressure pumps, among other vehicles and equipment. At GFL, we pride ourselves on our leading edge fleet and equipment line that is meticulously cared for and regularly maintained by our dedicated team. This position requires a dependable, enthusiastic organized individual capable of consistently performing to meet established standards and deadlines.
Please note, the chosen individual must possess their own hand tools and storage tool box. However, the successful candidate will be eligible for a $500 tool allowance after three months and then an annual tool allowance of $1000 after 3 years of service.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and diagnostic work on a wide range of mobile and stationary equipment.
  • Complete repairs on all mechanical systems as required. Including, but not limited to, engines, transmissions, driveline, brake systems, hydraulic systems, etc.
  • Participate in the GFL safety program and ensure compliance with all GFL and Fleet Maintenance safety standards, policies and procedures.
  • Ensure repaired equipment is properly tested for correct performance and operation.
  • Utilize excellent organizational skills in order to complete accurate, legible and descriptive documentation for all completed repairs.
  • Install or fabricate aftermarket equipment and components as assigned.
  • Communicate effectively with Shop Foreman, Lead Hand and Parts Coordinator.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Journeyman Certification.
  • Experience with the CVIP Motor Vehicle Inspection Program.
  • CVIP certification preferred but not required.
  • Cummins, Detroit, & John Deere experience preferred.
  • Class 5 Drivers License with a clean drivers abstract required, 1A or 3A Driver’s License preferred.
  • Strong Mechanical and troubleshooting abilities on a wide range of machinery and equipment.
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime as needed.
