UPMC is hiring a Full-time, Journeyman- Plumber to support the Polyclinic Hospital in Harrisburg.

INDIVIDUALS WITH BOILER EXPERIENCE WILL BE GIVEN PRIORITY.

You will need to provide your own hand tools, UPMC will provide power tools and specialty tools.

• Install, repair and maintain various types of pipe assemblies, plumbing fixtures and piping systems from blueprints and sketches, including but not limited to chilled water, heating hot water and medical gas.
• Perform all work following infection control procedures.
• Estimate costs of installations and repair work, including requisition of material, as needed.
• Mark, cut and bend pipe to meet specifications by using hacksaw, pipe cutter or cutting machine.
• Fit valves, couplings and other plumbing devices by screwing, bolting or soldering and seal connections with joint compounds, gaskets or caulking by using appropriate tools.
• Maintain clean and safe work area, equipment rooms and shop areas.
• Inspect systems for pressure loss and leaks.
• Record work orders and submit hours to supervisor on a daily basis.
• Prepare pipe for installation such as cutting, threading, removing burrs, grooving and bending.
• Investigate and perform system outages.
• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of 4-5 year apprenticeship, which includes blueprint reading, mechanical drawing, mathematics, electrical wiring and plumbing and minimum of three years of work experience REQUIRED
• Knowledge of State and Local plumbing codes and ordinances is required.
• May in the course of their duties be in rooms where medications are stored.
• No contact with medications is allowed.LICENSURE, CERTIFICATIONS, AND CLEARANCES:Act 33 Child Clearance (must be provided within 30 days of hire)Act 73 FBI Clearance (must be provided within 30 days of hire)
