Position Title: Journeyman Steam & Pipefitter / Plumber IAIV Department:  Facilities Management Position Type: Full-time, Permanent, 37.5 hours/week Classification: IAIV $32.11 Hourly / $66,788.80 Annually Posting Date: May 21, 2026 Closing Date: June 4, 2026 Reporting to the Mechanical and Electrical Supervisor, the Facilities Management Department is seeking a Journeyman Steamfitter & Pipefitter/Plumber with experience in maintenance and skilled trades work. The successful candidate will support the ongoing operation, repair, and maintenance of university systems and infrastructure.   Key Responsibilities:    * Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on university equipment and building systems * Complete installation of small projects, upgrades, and system modifications * Participate in an on-call rotation shared among the maintenance team * Maintain a valid driver’s license and operate university vehicles as required   Requirements:  *  High school diploma or equivalent *  Valid Journeyman Steamfitter & Pipefitter and/or Plumber certification * A secondary trade certification or relevant cross-trade experience is considered an asset * Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the installation and repair of heating, cooling, and process piping systems, including steam distribution systems (required) * Experience with water distribution and sanitary drainage system installation and repair (required) * Ability to perform semi-skilled work outside primary trade qualifications * Proficiency in the safe use and maintenance of hand tools, power tools, and related equipment * Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and instructions * Working knowledge of formulas, measurements, and conversion tables relevant to the trade * Basic computer literacy   To apply for this opportunity, click the "Apply Now" button and upload your cover letter, resume and references.  StFX is located in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People.  StFX is committed to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility and encourages applications from individuals who will contribute to the diversity of our community.
