QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Qualified licensed (309A) Electrician with 3+ years of recent experience in commercial electrical work
  • Registered with Ontario College of Trades
  • Valid G driver’s license with a clean driving history (drivers abstract required)
  • criminal record back ground check required
  • current and valid certifications: First Aid with CPR
  • Ontario mandated certifications for all Workers: Health & Safety Awareness Training for Workers, Working at Heights, Violence & Harassment in the Workplace, Disabilities in the Workplace, WHIMIS
  • Minimum of 5 years recent experience in commercial electrical work
  • Experience with up to 600VAC systems, EMT & PVC conduit work, underground services, etc.
  • Must have own hand tools, good condition and compliant Green Patch safety boots, basic work wear to suit project conditions, etc.
    · Planning and installation of conduits, cable tray and tech cable installations in commercial and industrial environments including hazardous areas.

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE AN ASSET:

  • Experience in residential high rises
  • Installation of fire alarm systems
  • Experience in troubleshooting and repairing electrical problems in commercial and industrial facilities.
  • Must be able to interpret electrical plan drawings & control drawings.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret blue prints, drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specifications
  • Plan wiring layouts
  • Install and pull wire through conduit
  • Install brackets and hangers to support electrical equipment
  • Install, replace and repair lighting fixtures, receptacles and switches
  • Install and maintain distribution equipment such as switch gear, transformers, disconnects and electrical panels
  • Join and connect wire to fixtures and components to form circuits
  • Test completion of circuits using test equipment
  • Troubleshoot and isolate faults in electrical and electronic systems
  • Connect electrical power to HVAC and mechanical systems
  • Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts for new or existing installations
  • Run tests and troubleshoot electrical components to ensure a safe and effective installation
